FRESNO, Calif. — November 3, 2026.Esmeralda Soria, a former Fresno City Councilmember and current California Assemblymember, is seeking the District 14 seat in the state Senate in the November 3 general election. Her Republican opponent is Darin S. DuPont, a Merced City Councilmember and water-policy attorney.

From Fresno City Hall to a regional campaign

Soria’s campaign biography describes her as the daughter of farmworkers and a first-generation American who grew up in the Central Valley. She previously served on the Fresno City Council before her 2022 election to the Assembly. Her Senate campaign presents affordability, access to health care and economic opportunity as central priorities.

The campaign points to her legislative work on hospital access and public investments in the Valley. Those achievements and dollar amounts, when claimed by campaign material, should be understood as the candidate’s own characterization rather than independent proof of impact.

What District 14 covers

The district extends across communities in Merced, Madera and Fresno counties. The election is not a citywide Fresno contest; Fresno residents covered by the district share the ballot with voters in surrounding communities. DuPont’s campaign is emphasizing water management, affordability and government accountability from his base in Merced.

Candidate’s voting appearance

California58 has not verified where or when Soria personally cast a November 3 ballot, or a contemporaneous TikTok, Facebook or Instagram video documenting it. Her published campaign biography is available at soriaforcalifornia.com. This report does not claim an Election Day appearance or result without a primary source.
