FRESNO — November 4, 2026. One of Fresno’s closest council races changed direction as more ballots were counted overnight. The earliest county figures, reported at 9:37 p.m. Tuesday by KMJ, had Rob Fuentes at 52.13% and Naindeep Singh at 47.87%. In a later election-night update described by the San Joaquin Valley Sun, Singh moved into the lead with 50.09% to Fuentes’ 49.91% — a margin of only 16 votes.
Why the lead changed
Different releases contain different batches of ballots. A new ballot batch can alter the rankings, especially when only a handful of votes separates candidates. This does not, by itself, indicate anything improper. The earlier figures remain part of the public historical record, but must not be presented as the latest numbers.
What District 1 is choosing
Residents of Fresno City Council District 1 are selecting a successor to outgoing Councilmember Annalisa Perea. Council members participate in decisions on housing, neighborhood services, municipal budgets, transportation, public safety and development. Voting in this district is separate from races in Districts 3 and 7.
Other Fresno council elections
In the same later San Joaquin Valley Sun report, Joaquin Arambula led Keshia Thomas in District 3, while Ariana Martinez Lott led Nav Gurm in District 7. All three races remain unofficial until the county completes its canvass.
